It was with great delight we welcomed 112 of our Past and Present Mums to share in Mass celebrated by Fr Len Thomas, followed by a beautiful lunch.
This special day is one filled with tradition and is very much looked forward to by our guests.
Over the years, there have been many Mums involved in the organising of this day, and it was wonderful to meet many of them both before the event and on the day. Thank you's are in order for many people, especially Pam Frazer for her guidance and also assistance with sourcing many of the Raffle prizes. Also to Joan McLachlan and Denise Gartner for their input and for their respective donations . (Joan's famous fruit cake -another tradition, and Denise offering her Holiday house in Anglesea for auction). And to Louise Knight for donating the fabulous hamper for the Raffle. Plus we had some other wonderful donations from Marcellin families, DiMattina's, Toscano's and others.
The mothers were welcomed into the Functions Room with a glass of champagne amidst much chat. They then enjoyed the 'traditional' spit roast accompanied by the 'famous Marcellin Punch'.
Our Principal, Mark Murphy entertained the guests with tales of his Mum, childhood and the importance of Mums.
We celebrated the many terrific stories about children and grand children - with photos (on phones and the old fashioned printed ones too) proudly on display.
Most mums just managed to beat the school pick up traffic - but not before just about every last update of the past twelve months could be exchanged.
We are looking forward to 2015s event with much anticipation.
